Adjunct Faculty - Macroeconomics and Managerial Accounting
Job Description
The Opportunity
The Business Management Department of Lesley University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is looking for a qualified instructor (preferably one person for both courses, if possible) for the Spring 2024 semester, in Cambridge, MA. All courses will meet in person.
1. CECON-2102 Macroeconomics (3 Credits)
Macroeconomics is the study of aggregate economic behavior - determinants of total output and income, determinants of prices and their rate of change, determinants of growth in the aggregate economy. This includes the effects of government policy to achieve full employment, price stability, and economic growth. The course focuses on developing a critical understanding of how the U.S. economy functions on the aggregate level, while situating the U.S. economy and the consequences of U.S. economic decisions within the broader global economy. The course draws upon a variety of case studies and real-world examples to facilitate students' intuitive knowledge of economics. Online resources are utilized throughout the course.
2. CMGMT-2457 Managerial Accounting (3 Credits)
This course builds upon the student's understanding of basic accounting techniques and focuses on the internal accounting processes that help managers gather and organize the information needed for making day-to-day decisions within the organization. The course introduces students to methods for analyzing, interpreting and applying financial and non-financial information such as cost accounting, break-even analysis, cost analysis and the budgetary process. Prerequisite: CMGMT 2455.
Qualifications and Capabilities
The successful candidate will have:
- Master's degree (PhD preferred), with experience teaching in the particular discipline.
- Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Experience in constructivist, inquiry-based learning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
