Job Description

This is a full-time, one-year, temporary position that will be funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. This position is contingent upon grant funding and is subject to the terms of the grant. Continuation or renewal of this position will be dependent upon additional revenue sources.

 

JOB SUMMARY: This position is for working with instrumentation and methodologies for measurement of SARS-CoV2 and other viruses in wastewater samples.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lab work, data analysis, and method refinement
  • Supervision of undergraduate students
  • Experience with extraction and quantitative measurement of nucleic acids
  • Sample collection and coordination of sample pickup
  • Communication with local, state, and national partners
  • Management of lab funds
  • Precise following of Standard Operating Protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a similar field.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with digital drop PCR and data analysis
