Invention Education Administrator K14 (Part-Time)
Job Description
INVENTION EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR K14, Lemelson-MIT Program (LMIT) (part-time, 50%), to facilitate collaborative efforts to support invention education offerings in particular geographic regions that span grades K-14. These efforts will help people learn to invent, protect their intellectual property, and bring creations to intended beneficiaries. Efforts will include events celebrating students’ work and accomplishments as inventors; support for developing and implementing new online and hybrid invention education offerings for educators and students (emphasis on grades 9-12 and two-year colleges); engagement with educators and administrators; and cultivation of relationships and ongoing collaborations through paid memberships or other revenue sources. Responsibilities include collaborating on developing grants and funding proposals; managing grant commitments, program budgets, and reports to funders; collaborating on invention education-related events; attending conferences and making presentations; and participating in research, evaluation, and new program development efforts, including curricula, hands-on tools/materials, and professional learning opportunities for educators.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in education, science, or engineering; three years’ professional science, engineering, or teaching experience; excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills; good judgment and discretion with confidential information; driver’s license; and Microsoft Office proficiency. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, e.g., program staff, education communities, high school students, and educators; work independently and collaboratively as needed to successfully deliver results; synthesize data for clear communication; and effectively coach/mentor people of different ages and levels of experience. PREFERRED: master’s degree or teaching credential; experience with databases, online survey development, online collaboration tools (e.g., Google Docs, Adobe Connect), Macs, Drupal, learning management systems (Canvas), and programming language(s); and experience using devices such as Arduino, Micro:bit, or Raspberry Pi. Some weekend work and occasional extended work hours will be required.
Must be able to travel nationally.
