Research Administration Support and Education Specialist

Job Description

RESEARCH ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT AND EDUCATION SPECIALIST, Office of the Vice President for Research-Research Administration Support Team, to join a team that serves as a resource to administrators at MIT and provides--in collaboration with business partners across the campus--education and support for systems, processes, policies, and best practices in research administration.  Responsibilities include providing research administration support and education to the MIT community, leveraging knowledge of research administration policies and understanding of MIT’s research administration enterprise systems; serving as first point of contact--under the supervision of the team’s manager--for MIT’s research administrators regarding research administration policies/practices, sponsor requirements, and systems; collaborating on developing/revising curriculum for grants management systems and research administration topics; assisting with identifying and developing best practices for the MIT community; attending professional research administrators meetings and keeping abreast of changes in sponsor requirements and legislation; and performing other duties as assigned.  Will also serve in key roles on project teams, including project management collaboration; business analysis; process documentation; quality assurance and end user testing; training design, development, and delivery; and communications.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; three years’ experience in sponsored research administration and in an academic or related setting; broad experience with enterprise-wide systems, including SAP and Kuali Coeus; ability to learn complex systems and understand the interdependencies involved when updating/manipulating those systems; excellent organization skills for assisting with project planning and coordinating programs and logistics; and strong customer service skills.  Must be able to work independently and on teams, manage multiple tasks simultaneously with guidance from others,  collaborate on developing curriculum and delivering training, and interact collegially with a variety of individuals.  Job #24157-8

This is a hybrid, three-year term appointment with the possibility of extension.
