Administrative Assistant II

Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II, Housing and Residential Services (HRS), to perform complex and diverse administrative duties in support of the senior leadership team, including the senior associate dean for Housing and Residential Services, associate dean and director for Residential Services and Operations, and the director of Residential Renewal and Renovation.  Will be responsible for HRS office suite and develop, implement, and manage a customer service approach that aligns with the mission and goals of HRS; manage seamless telephone and in-person office coverage for the department, department meeting arrangements, and multiple senior staff calendars; represent HRS to MIT students, faculty, alumni, parents, staff, and external groups; manage multiple project requests in a timely manner while adapting to changing circumstances and rearranging priorities when necessary; and research and resolve complex issues and anticipate needs.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years’ administrative, office, or related experience; interest in and understanding of the higher education environment; excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills; comfort working on multiple projects; and advanced-level computer software skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with Institute administrators, students, staff, faculty, and outside stakeholders; work independently with minimal supervision; interpret and make decisions on issues and priorities for own work area; and adapt to changing circumstances.  PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree, residential life or housing experience, and experience with website maintenance and SAP.  Job #24167-5

Hourly rate: $26.00 - $30.00 depending on relevant experience and education

The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M, with some weekend and evening work required.  This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
