Rider University invites applications for the Director of Residence Life.  Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, this individual will provide leadership and management of a comprehensive Residence Life program encompassing approximately 2,400 beds in over a dozen residential facilities. Includes oversight of residential learning communities, and comprehensive programming to advance a vibrant living and learning community. The Director oversees crisis intervention and risk management via residential on call system management. Supervises departmental staff inclusive of 3 Assistant Directors, over a dozen Community Directors and 70 paraprofessional staff.

Position Requirements

  • Master’s degree and 5-8 years of experience in Student Affairs with at least 3 years of Residence Life experience including supervision, program development and budgeting. 
  • Demonstrated strong communication and management skills. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of student development and higher education administration. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of computer software programs.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic planning and problem-solving. 
  • Demonstrated strong intercultural competency and experience supporting students with diverse identities and backgrounds. 
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience with the development of learning communities
  • Strong skills in using computerized systems to manage housing operations.
  • Experience with Banner, CS Gold, Star Rez, EAB Navigate, Maxient or related software.
