Adjunct Faculty, Rising Scholars Program

Job Description

Position

Adjunct Faculty, Rising Scholars Program

Department

Rising Scholars Program

Details

Lake Tahoe Community College continually seeks part-time instructors to teach One-On-One Enhanced Instruction in the Rising Scholars Program (RSP) department. The college is seeking qualified and motivated instructors particularly in the areas of Counseling, English, Geology, Math, Music, Psychology, Speech, and Sociology for future quarters.

Teaching in LTCC’s RSP is an excellent opportunity to work with an underrepresented population and provide quality, student-centered instruction. Our students are hungry to learn, eager for education and are committed to enhancing their lives as they work their way towards a college degree.

Lake Tahoe Community College’s Rising Scholars Program is an exciting and growing program that has been in operation since 2015. Our goal is to contribute to individuals and the public’s growth by providing structured, positive support for incarcerated students as they pursue higher education. We offer an Associate in Arts for Transfer degree in Sociology and students complete the degree in an Enhanced One-On-One delivery method, a student-centered approach that is unique within corrections-based education. We are proud to be able to provide cost-free textbooks and materials to our students and offer tuition-free enrollment for students that qualify for the California College Promise Grant. If students don’t qualify for the Promise Grant, then the college will still offer materials and books so students can complete their education if they can find a sponsor to pay tuition cost.
