Your Role

The Government Programs Regulatory Law team is responsible for supporting the Medi-Cal and Medicare Advantage lines of business. The Regulatory Filing Analyst, Senior, will report to the managing government programs attorney. In this role you will assist with complex Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) filings, provide regulatory guidance to the business on state and federal requirements, and work directly with the Compliance Team on regulatory audits. Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Actively participate as a Regulatory Unit stakeholder in projects and activities related company initiatives that impact various business units within the company (i.e. Legal, Mandates, Contracts, Product Development Team, HCQA, Actuary, Global Business Services)
  • Works independently under limited supervision with responsibility for meeting deadlines set by the business and the regulatory agencies
  • Serves as subject matter expert to internal business units regarding requirements of various filings based on state and federal regulations. Coordinates with internal business units including the Product Development Team, HCQA, Actuary, Global Business Services, to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Collaborates with various business units in the filing process. Research issues and discuss potential compliance issues, as necessary, while preparing filings to be presented to the regulatory agencies
  • Works collaboratively with internal clients to write/edit the description of packaged filings for accurate representation of the company's proposals to the regulatory agencies for approval
  • Independently manage and lead health plan responses to Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) inquiries and complex filings. This includes working collaboratively with internal business clients to ensure accurate representations of the company's proposals to the regulatory agencies for approval
  • Maintain filing tracker and work with Compliance teams on filings with multiple agencies

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management
  • Requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Requires knowledge of the Knox Keene Act
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal and/or Medicare Advantage is strongly desired

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 87230.00 to $ 130900.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
