Job Description:
The Academic Support Center Coordinator/Writing (Tenure Track) will participate in the supervision and coordination of tutorial services in the Academic Support Center of Westchester Community College. Responsibilities include the assessment of student skills and the subsequent placement of students in an appropriate academic setting. The incumbent will also:
- Serve as liaison to various credit and developmental departments such as; English, Reading, ESL, and including writing across the campus community of disciplines.
- Train tutors in policy and procedures of the unit.
- Recruit, hire and evaluate tutors.
- Apply assessment concepts.
- Attend departmental meetings and other related group meetings.
- Create scheduling and coordination of tutors.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Keep accurate records of academic services provided to students.
- Provide written reports on the effectiveness of tutorial program review and other college information needs.
- Research and develop methodologies and processes for tutorial services including Information/Instructional Technology.
- Become familiar with learning management systems and hyflex learning module development (e.g. Brightspace).
- Provide supervision on all virtual tutorial components (i.e. askatutor and online tutorial platforms).
- Promote writing on campus.
- Contribute to Program Review cycles for the English department.
- Collaborate with English faculty and Library personnel on maintaining resources related to documentation and citation-MLA and APA styles.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Knowledge of developmental programs and grant writing is required. Knowledge and commitment to the goals and mission of the community college and evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students required, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom. The demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse staff is also required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three (3) years of experience in coordinating and running a writing tutorial program and a Master's degree in English or Writing preferred.
Additional Information:
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm in person. Evening and Weekend Hours may be assigned as needed.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $57,662. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $68,976.
