We are an innovative institution committed to student success and well known for our flexibility to meet student and regional community needs. We are seeking a forward-looking, collaborative educator to join our Accounting faculty. This position will require teaching a combination of entry level courses such as, but not limited to Principles of Accounting 1 & 2, as well as other courses which may include Intermediate Accounting 1 & 2, Federal Income Tax 1 for Individuals, or Business Finance.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting faculty teach a wide range of freshman and sophomore level undergraduate classes. The successful faculty member will teach 15 credit hours per semester and 30 credit hours per academic year consisting of day, evening, weekend, or online classes. This position requires flexibility, as teaching assignments may change each semester Faculty may be assigned to teach on the La Plata, Leonardtown, or Prince Frederick campus or any campus or center where CSM offers classes. The faculty member hired in this position is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities to promote student-centered learning and success. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, holding office hours, serving on various committees, and demonstrating a commitment to professional development thorough participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.
DUTIES AND STANDARDS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:- Teach 30 credits of courses per contract year in the Accounting Program and Business discipline
- Teach a range of courses that may include morning, day, evening, or online.
- Design assignments that incorporate students’ program of study and connect to the Accounting Program
- Engage students in their learning through active and collaborative learning approaches
- Meet with students outside of class to assist them with being successful college students
- Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogies into the teaching and learning process
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret information
- Demonstrated ability to deliver instruction to diverse student populations, with varied levels of learning and preparation
- Knowledge and use of student engagement strategies that support completion and student success goals
- Demonstrated experience providing feedback students can use to improve their performance
- Maintain an ongoing program of professional development and participate in professional organizations, workshops, seminars, conferences and activities
- Mastery of appropriate computer operation skills
Minimum Education and Training
- Master’s degree in Accounting or closely related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting coursework.
- CPA license, preferred.
- One year of instructional experience is preferred. This includes teaching courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness, preferably at the community college level.
- Two years of professional experience in the Accounting field.
- Experience in tax preparation, preferred.
- Ability to use word processing, basic internet applications, and basic database navigation.
- Ability to use an educational enterprise, learning management system such as Brightspace (D2L) to support and facilitate instructional delivery.
- Ability to teach in face-to-face, virtual, web, and hybrid formats.
