Postdoctoral Associate, Yaffe Lab
Job Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, YAFFE LAB, Koch Institute (KI) - Integrative Cancer Research, to lead projects aimed at improving lung cancer treatment by investigating the role of postoperative tissue injury and inflammatory signaling pathways in recurrence and metastasis. This work involves multidisciplinary systems-based approaches ranging from molecular and cellular biology to multi”omics” tissue profiling, biochemistry, immunology, and biological engineering. Experimental techniques used in the lab include molecular cloning, CRISPR-based gene editing, protein engineering, mammalian tissue culture, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, transcriptomics, proteomics/phosphoproteomics and computational modeling using both mouse models of lung cancer/metastasis and resected human NSCLC tumors. Will understand the relationship between inflammation and cancer progression, while working with other passionate scientists in a collegial, project-driven, interdisciplinary laboratory; be co-mentored by Dr. Yaffe, an experienced mentor dedicated to helping his trainees cultivate professional development skills and success in their independent scientific careers and Dr. Paul Furlow, a thoracic surgeon-scientist from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School, who will provide training in lung metastasis biology and complex small animal surgery; avail of professional development opportunities within the lab and exposure to a breadth of scientific and clinical disciplines at the KI and MGH; and take advantage of the vibrant scientific communities of MIT and Harvard.
