Job Summary

Physics Lab Assistants work weekly schedules with times based upon the course that they are assisting. Each position is filled on a per semester basis. The Lab Assistant should report to the instructor for the course they are assigned. Lab Assistants are responsible for helping the instructor to ensure that the students complete the experimental portion/s of a given class period and for understanding how students are to complete the goals for a given experimental exercise (including helping with calculations). Lab Assistants perform routine tasks such as setting up and testing instrumentation or equipment and ensuring the teaching space is well maintained and organized throughout a class period.  The lab assistant is expected to be friendly and approachable to all members of the classroom.

Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
